Request for Volunteers: develop a website playbook for the future of tFC

Tech for Campaigns ourselves

As TFC scales we are building toolkits and templates for projects we see as repeatable so that each team is learning from one another and not reinventing the wheel. One of those project types is building websites for candidates that would otherwise have very little.

We need a shared toolkit to provide quality, consistency, efficiency, and expediency. The team on this project will be responsible for setting the standard that TFC website project teams will rely upon going forward.

This project will focus on gathering and sharing best practices for all future TFC team building websites on campaigns. You'll talk to teams that have already completed projects for candidates, as well as explore the incremental tools and strategies at our disposal. Ultimately, you'll organize your insights into an intuitive, user-friendly playbook. Deliverables will include, but are not limited to:

  • Best practice recommendation - which website builders are best to use given the needs of most campaign? Which third-party services should they plug into (For donation, email, etc.)?

  • Website templates - for the most highly recommended services should we design a few templates that our TFC team can use out of box?

  • Must have documentation - what are the must have features and characteristics every TFC site will have (from email front and center, to FB pixels to social icons placement)?

  • Handoff guides - we won’t be maintaining sites going forward so there should be a template handoff guide to be given to campaigns.

  • Strategy, project plans and examples for different goals a campaign may have - fundraising, GOTV and persuasion

  • Best practices and benchmarks of what to expect from previous campaigns

  • Any other resources that your team develops to arm campaigns for success.

This is your opportunity to equip future TFC teams with a powerful foundation for own projects. By extension, your work will give future candidates the websites they'll need to make informed decisions and pursue winning strategies.

The need

  • Team Lead - you’re a product manager and comfortable in both product and technical roles

  • Engineer - you’re a backend or fullstack engineer and you’re comfortable learning new things quickly

  • UI Designer - you love designing things that are simple, usable and pleasing to the eye

  • PMM - you love writing and marketing and can help get some templates written for sites since many sites come to us without copy written
